Our 6th Annual mini festival was yet again a huge success. Hosting this event in Chatham was the best move we made. Around 150 people came through the door and all left buzzing after 12 hours of dance.
The morning started off with dance workshops from Jenny Rockett & Mon's Partners. Opening the show at lunchtime were 3card trick.. yes 3cards Glenn Rogers, Les Evens and Ian Walton did a brilliant show. Playing new songs, and old favourites. Every time I see this show its different, the whole act varies so much from Glenn's solo, 2card trick duo and the full band sound from 4card trick.. For us they pleased the dancers with modern floor fillers, and entertained the listeners with outstanding lead vocal and great sounding music. Sharing the Stage during the dayshift were LiveWire a young duo who never fail to please. The dancers love livewires up-to-date material, Ainsley has great rapport with the audience and Debbie’s Vocal is a joy to hear.
After a break for dinner and change into Halloween costumes for the evening we were ready to go again. Jenny taught in Mexico, big jimmy, & knee deep all well received and looking to take off on the circuit. Our evening acts were already in the party mood walking into a room full of witches and demons. MT Allan was first up, filling the floor with popular tracks including Patient Heart, and encouraging the Black Coffee dancers to thrust on cue.. His humour has the room laughing along with him, but it’s his vocals and lead guitar licks that remind us what a great artist he is. Calico closed the event, with a high energy show, joining in with the fancy dress and even letting me have a sing-a-long at the end, Nikki & Brian have been a club favourite for many years, current setlist, vibrant show, banter with the audience, and a unique sound that makes them stand out from the rest. Its been a pleasure working with them over the years and we wish them both all the best in 2011 with new ventures...
Well to sum up this event, all credit goes to the bands for showing us that live music is not only great to dance to, its good to watch, fun, and different with every act. Huge thanks to the instructors who keep us on the floor, then my team, the people behind the scenes who make it all happen, Nora, Jo, Bobbie, Sue, Conor, Amie, Chloe all giving up time to make the show run smooth. I enjoy every minute of planning these events but cant do it without the support from the people of Kent, different club supporting us year in year out.. without them we could not continue, and with clubs failing all over the country, we all need support, next year we have booked 'lass Vegas' 'Natalie Thurlow' & 'Texas Tornados' 30th October 2011 sure we will see you all there again..
