The 2007 Spirit festival will be one to remember, for a long time. We had rather a bad experience with Camber Sands Holiday Park. Dirty facilities, uncooperative staff, diminished stock in the restaurant, Bar and chip shop, plus a rather power hungry security guard, left us all feeling very disappointed by the venue. The acts however were worth their weight in gold. We started the day of with tuition from Gaye Teather who taught three dances, including her new dance Eagles Rock. Roz & Keith now called $ilver Dollar were back again this year to teach us some partner dances that were all well received.
Brushwood opened the afternoon show, playing modern country music that filled the dance floor from the word go. Popular tracks from this brilliant duo included, 'Who's been sleeping in my bed', 'I don't feel like dancing' and 'closer'. Andy and Calvin always dress to impress with matching outfits that they change for each set. Brushwood have won the duo of the year at our club three times, now and their polished performances always please a crowd.
Sharing the afternoon with Brushwood were one of the best all live acts on the British circuit for the past few years. Henry Smiths country dreams, play older country music, but all very danceable. Their up tempo sets are full of stage presence, great to watch and listen to. You never know what to expect with this act, Henry puts so much energy into each performance that you are always left
wanting more. We had the pleasure of welcoming a young Rosie Horne to the stage, she kept the us entertained whilst the bands changed over for the evening set. Rosie although only 17 is an extremely talented artist. she has a country voice that compliments artists like Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn's music.
Another teaching slot from our guest instructors and we are ready for the evening show. Setting off the evening set was a new face to our club in the shape of Carl Shay, although sold as a country singer for the listeners his repertoire vast with modern country and danceable tunes. Carl's voice is pleasant to listen to and his charisma on stage is entertaining.
Last but by no means least we were out of our seats and on the floor with Calico. no time to return to our seats, Nicky and the guys sang all the latest dance tunes for the liners, including 'Grace Kelly', 'Everybody someone', 'Rub it in', Holding back the ocean' the list just goes on. Again this group are well presented and the stage presence and polished performance shows throughout.
